Our Building

The Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence is surrounded by trees and enjoys a lovely view of children’s playing areas to the east and fields to the south. Built to accommodate our growing membership, our recent addition, shown above, was dedicated October 19, 2008. Sunday services and programs and Wednesday evening dinners and programs are now held here.
The new facility was designed by el dorado, inc. of Kansas City, Missouri, and built by Kelley Construction of Topeka, Kansas. It has a clean, open contemporary look, innovative lighting, and is well integrated into the site with the existing building (the former Pleasant Valley School). These features brought it one of the three top design honors in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Central States design competition in 2008.
Both the new addition and the original Pleasant Valley building connected to it are available for rental when not used by the Fellowship. The new facility can accommodate a maximum of 180 in the meeting hall. There is a reception area and a kitchen there. The Pleasant Valley building meeting room (now called Founders’ Hall) can accommodate a maximum of 90 comfortably; there is a kitchen and reception area in the basement. Both facilities are handicapped accessible.
