Our children from pre-kindergarten (4 years) through third grade (about 9 years) attend the beginning of the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service with their parents. At about 11:10 p.m. the children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for the Story For All Ages. At the end of the story, the children are sung out by the congregation and escorted by one of our Children’s Activity facilitators to the activity room, where they are free to choose from creative play activities until their parents pick them after the service is over at noon.
The activities include opportunities to build with blocks, Legos, and thematic construction materials. They can engage in art activities or craft projects, play board games, look at books, play with puppets, and create stories with flannel boards, magnet boards or within a sand table. They play outside when the weather permits.
The lead teacher, who is assisted by a UFL youth, directs the Children’s Activity time. Children’s Activities is a time for UFL children to build community, play, share, and put into practice lessons from the UU 7 principles through kindness, acceptance of our differences, sharing and caring for earth.
