Thank you for considering a donation to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lawrence (UUCL) and the organizations we support as part of our commitment to creating a world rooted in love and justice.

You can make your gift in several ways. Please review the options below.

Ways to Make a Donation

You can access Breeze to make a one-time donation or set up recurring donations.

For detailed instructions on how to use Breeze to make your donation, please review these Frequently Asked Questions.

For recurring donations: Verify the amount you enter is for the particular giving time frame only, not the total amount for a year. For example, if you want to pledge $3000 a year and divide that into 12 monthly payments, enter $250 and the frequency is monthly. If you put $3000 and then choose monthly frequency, it will deduct $3000 a month, or $36,000 a year. Choose the amount to give taking into consideration the frequency of giving!!

Breeze recurring donations will stop when you or an administrator stops the transactions.

Please consider adding the processing fee to your gift and note that gifts by credit card do not allow us to ask for the processing fee.

If you prefer to send a check, please mail it to:

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lawrence
1263 N. 1100 Road
Lawrence, KS 66047-9427

Please indicate which fund you would like your gift directed to on the memo line, such as Pledge, General Fund, Minister’s Caring Fund, Community Connections, etc.

To donate by text simply text 785-450-1999 and the amount you would like to give. Enter the amount, a space, and then the fund code (optional). If this is the first time donating by text you will be given instructions on providing payment method.

While the default is the community connections fund you can also specify the following:

P for pledge
GF for General Fund
MCF for Ministers Caring Fund.
CC for Community Connections

Texting Examples:

5 P $5 towards the Pledge
10 $10 towards the Community Connections (default fund)
10 CC $10 towards the Community Connections (specified)
25 GF $25 towards the General Fund
100 XYZ This will result in an error message because xyz is not a valid fund
100000 GF $100,000 towards the General Fund. This would be amazing, but if a mistake is made, which happens, you can enter ‘refund’ to refund the last text donation you made (refund must be within 24 hours of donation).

Weekly donations can also be set up. Enter the amount, fund, and enter weekly, biweekly, monthly, or yearly. For example:

25 GF Weekly results in $25 weekly towards the General Fund.

If you need to update your account information, enter the word ‘update’ and you will be given a link to update your account.

If you would like to unlink your phone from the text giving, text ‘unlink’ to unlink your phone from the text giving service so your phone is no longer authorized to make donations.

Please note that text giving does charge a fee to cover the credit card transaction and net deposit will be slightly lower and repeated text givings may cause your credit card to place a hold on your account. Giving by text does not allow us to ask a donor to cover processing fees.

You can make a big impact on UUCL with a future gift. When you decide to include UUCL in your estate plan, your generosity helps us sustain the work we do in the congregation, the Lawrence community, and the wider world. Thank you for ensuring that UUCL can impact those we serve well into the future.

We encourage you to speak to your own financial or legal advisors about your options, but this article on the Top 10 Planned Giving Techniques provides a good primer to some of the most common options. The UUA also offers a free personal estate planning kit as a tool for organizing your estate.

If you would like to inform UUCL of your planned giving, please download the UUCL Planned Giving Intention Form and return it by mail.

When you make a donation, it can be directed to a number of different funds. Please review the options below.

Where Can My Money Go?

Donations made to UUCL's general operating account support the following:

  • Salaries and benefits for our staff
  • Our contribution to the UUA's Annual Program Fund
  • Maintaining, repairing, and insuring our building and grounds
  • Sunday morning program, worship, music, hospitality, and religious education activities
  • Social justice efforts including contributions to our partners at the ECM, LINK, and Justice Matters
  • Helping Hands providing cards and flowers to members in times of need
  • Visitor and new member outreach, education, and celebrations
  • Leadership development and training and consulting from UUA experts
  • Celebrations, memorials, and gatherings for fellowship with one another

Please consider a one-time or recurring donation to our general operating expenses, either through a pledge or contribution.

Pledging is a commitment to contribute a defined amount to the congregation during our fiscal year to help us plan and budget our expenses. Each year we have a pledge campaign in the spring. Funds pledged are then collected in the fiscal year following (July 1 to June 30) to support the operating expenses of the congregation. Learn more about our most recent campaign. Making your pledge to the general budget is the first step before actually fulfilling it.

You may also make your donation in honor of someone by including their name in your donation details. UUCL offers covers reception costs for celebrations of life when a member dies. Your support makes this possible.

It is our tradition that our weekly Sunday offering goes beyond the walls of our congregation and directly into the community. You can also make a donation to community connections separate from the Sunday offering by noting Community Connection in your donation details.

UUCL has a beautiful tradition of supporting a Minister's Caring Fund so that our minister can help members in need of help with those rough patches in life. Sometimes it's a medical bill, other times a rent or utility check--all kinds of reasons why a little help would be much appreciated. Being part of an intentional spiritual community offers us all practice in both giving and receiving.

A donation to this fund goes into this special pool of funds to be used at the minister's discretion. Assistance provided is kept confidential.

UUCL's Flourishing Fund is held at the Douglas County Community Foundation. The fund was opened after several large bequests.

The Endowment Committee oversees the Flourishing Fund on behalf of the Board and makes reports and recommendations to the Board on its investments.

This fund is primarily held for preservation of principal but will be used more intentionally to support the congregation, not only with its investment income but also with regular transfers from its principal to the operating fund. These transfers can help cover regular operating expenses when membership donations are insufficient. In addition, proposals can be made to use Flourishing Fund monies to cover special projects.

If you are interested in making a gift to the Flourishing Fund, please contact chair@uuclks.org and treasurer@uuclks.org for more information.

UUCL's Endowment Fund is held at the Douglas County Community Foundation. The fund was started with congregational funds (which have seen been repaid to the congregation), and it has received additional gifts since.

The Endowment Committee oversees the Endowment Fund and makes reports and recommendations to the Board on its investments. Gifts are added to the principal of the account, which is generally not to be depleted. The Endowment Committee has a practice of recommending a gift back to UUCL annually for 50% of any realized gains made by the Endowment Fund. This gift supports UUCL's operating expenses. (In years when there is a loss, no gift is made.)

If you are interested in making a gift to the Endowment Fund, please contact chair@uuclks.org and treasurer@uuclks.org for more information.

UUCL's Pratt Fund is held at the Douglas County Community Foundation. The fund was started with a donation by Morris C. Pratt with the intention that it be used to fund parties. Future gifts to the fund would be invested, but are expendable to support the good cause of celebrating with one another!

The Endowment Committee oversees the Pratt Fund on behalf of the Board and makes reports and recommendations to the Board on its investments.

If you are interested in making a gift to the Pratt Fund, please contact chair@uuclks.org and treasurer@uuclks.org for more information.
